Update: A replacement 4.7 beta version (4.7.106) is now available on the Software Downloads page.
The 4.7 beta firmware is being taken off the Software Downloads page for a number of days. We've detected a number of issues with version 4.7.96, and we plan to resolve these issues by posting a new version of 4.7 once it is thoroughly tested.
In the meantime, if you have firmware version 4.7.96, we do not recommend using it to update any players. We apologize for any problems or delays this may cause.
Do you guys have a rough ETA of when the new version will be released?
Do you think you can create specific discussions on the forum for subjects related to bugs with BA software or bugs with players Fw?
I sometime experience bugs but I don't know if it is just me or everybody... It would be usefull to have a list of the actual bugs unsolved (also sometimes, there are ways to avoïd them)...
Actually I have 2 bugs with BA: impossible to use the GPIO in the advanced tab... When I choose the option, the soft fail directly. And also I have another bug with the Portrait/landscape mode (I use landscape mode but my layers aspects appears as portrait...!
We highlight the major bugs in the announcements on the support home page. Have you already updated to the latest BA version? What operating system is installed on your computer? Go to File > New presentation and specify the landscape mode for the monitor orientation.
On your support home page, I don't see any info about what the bugs are in 4.7 Fw... You say you discovered "a number of issues"!
Also I tried to find occurences of my bug with BA in the forum... (when I try to add a timout event of 5 seconds between 2 pictures, and then: Advanced/ add command / GPI /// APPLICATION CRASH!) but nobody talks about it.
I use BA Version 3.7.034 and Win 7 Pro (64) SP1 fully updated. I also use the BSN.
The Landscape/portrait issue is not an issue anymore... I probably made a mistake as I was very tired...
My main concern is with the GPIO to trigger relays... I will try downgrade to 3.5.036 to see if the problem is solved.
But can you tell me if you have the same bug? (helpfull to know if it is a real soft issue or if it is only related to my computer (in our jobs, we use hundreds of different softs and tools and sometimes there are tricky things happening with the registery base and so on ...)
No, I can't duplicate the problem using the steps you sent. Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features. Select BrightAuthor program, and then click Uninstall. Then, go to the Program Files folder, and delete the Brightsign folder. Then, to Users, to the main user, to App data, Local, and delete the Brightsign folder there. Go to http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/314637-brightsign-download, download BrightAuthor 22.214.171.124, install it on your PC. Repeat the test.
So it is a problem with my laptop.
I tried what you propose step by step but I still have the problem... Even after a reboot. There are many possibilities (the fact that I use a French windows version?)
So at the moment I use the official release (3.5.036) that works fine...
I will receive my new LAPTOP next week... Will try on it.
Try switching the Regional and Language Options to English and retest.
