Yes, you can attach a motion sensor to your BrightSign player using the GPIO port. When the motion sensor is triggered, the BrightSign player receives it as a button press (i.e. GPIO Event).

what motion sensors Brigth Sign user are using, please share types, brands, links, where to buy? I need a motion sensor for video playback.
Most PIR-sensors need 5v, not 3.3v, so maybe someone can give a wire-diagram.

I suggest you to use a motion sensor with a relay output so you can connect directly to the GPIO port of brightsign without worries.
If your sensor gives you a voltage at the output you can use a relay with the coil rated at this voltage to give a dry contact to the GPIO port of Brightsign..
I use Banner Engineering sensors. Had great success building a "touchless" kiosk with GPIO triggers and PIR sensors.
Working on a project now using Radar sensors so that lighting is not an issue.
I power them from a separate p/s because they want 10v-30v.
Using a motion sensor as a Button Press. How can I keep subsequent activations of the sensor from restarting the playfile before it's completed its cycle?
@Sandler put in a Timout on the sensor that is a long at the file?
