Supported touchscreens

Last Updated: July 22, 2022

Overview

BrightSign players are compatible with USB touchscreens that use standard HID drivers. A touchscreen with standard HID drivers will work with any operating system that has HID drivers installed--without requiring additional drivers from the manufacturer. Be careful: some manufacturers say they support HID but still use custom drivers that are incompatible with BrightSign players.

Important: Don't forget to download and run the Calibration Script for your touchscreen.

Other Support Technologies

The following list describes some other touchscreen technologies that are compatible with BrightSign players. There may be other compatible touchscreens that are not listed here, but we cannot guarantee them.

If you are testing a touchscreen for compatibility with BrightSign players, make sure to use the most recent version of firmware. Visit the Software Downloads page to get the most up-to-date firmware.

3M

We support 3M DST & Capacitive touch screens using both HID and custom drivers. Touch screen providers that use 3M technology include NEC, Planar, Horizon Displays, Samsung, Sharp, IBM, LG, Asus, Dell, and Sanyo.

ELO

We support many Elo touch technologies, including IntelliTouch, which is the most commonly used Elo touch technology. See this article for more details.

The following manufacturers use Elo: Luvox, NEC, Planar, HP, and Sanyo.

Note: We do not support APR – Acoustic Pulse Recognition. Most models are available using different touch technologies, even if some are not listed as part numbers on Elo's website.

I-TECH

BrightSign players should be compatible with any touchscreen that uses the eGalax driver. Touchscreen providers using eGalax include I-TECH NEC, Dell, and Planar.

NEC

Supported models include the OVL-V463 (overlay) and MultiSync V462 TM. Before you use the MultiSync V462 TM touchscreen with a BrightSign player, you must connect it to a Windows PC and run the "Lumio Crystal Touch Manager" application. Use the following settings: Linux OS, "Legacy HID Support" unchecked, and more than 1 touch.

PQLabs

BrightSign players support newer PQ Labs touch controllers that are HID compatible. However, many older PQ Labs controllers use non-HID drivers and do not work with BrightSign players.

RNDPLUS

BrightSign players are compatible with touchscreens that use the RNDPLUS touch controller. TSItouch overlays and some Philips screens use the RNDPLUS controller for touch overlays. Note that the controller must be set to stylus mode to work with BrightSign players.

SHARP

Sharp PN-L651H is HID-compliant but may require a firmware update.
User-reported working Firmware Version is PN-L651H_Firmware_v2_4_0_1-6616_v2_0_2

Finding the USB Controller ID

If you’re unsure what touch controller your touchscreen model uses, check this list first. If it is not listed there, we can help you find the controller: You'll need to locate the USB VID:PID for the screen and forward it to support@brightsign.biz. You can normally find this information by connecting the touch screen to a Windows computer and checking its properties in the Device Manager. The touch screen will normally be listed under Mouse and other pointing devices or under Human Interface Devices.

  1. Right-Click on the touch controller and choose Properties.
  2. Click on the Details tab in the Properties window.
  3. Select either Hardware ID or Device Instance ID.

For example: USB\VID_0EEF&PID_0001\5&262929C3&0&2

After reading through this I was curious about the compatibility of my brightsign player and my elo touch monitor. I have a 4243L Elo Touchmonitor and a XD1032 Brightsign player and can't get my presentation to play on my monitor. It will play my presentation but not allow touch interaction with the presentation thus making it a static page. I was curious if this was due to compatibility issues or if I simply did not have everything set up properly.

    InFocus Mondopad INF5520a-KIT

    InFocus Mondopad INF802-KIT

And, also asked about this model:

I'm with Monica Knutson, would like to know if the new ELO touch screens will work with BrightSign.

The owners manual states: Projective Capacitance and Infrared units are HID compatible and do not require an Elo touch driver.

I'm guessing this means it should work, but would prefer to not have to buy one and send it back if I can find out ahead of time.

    Thanks!

We have a 5501LT at a client location that we'll be getting back to our showroom in November.   It will be a couple weeks, but I can run down and test it with an LS422 at the end of August.

    Cheers,
    Monica

Anyone have a chance to try the new ELO monitors? We're looking at the 4202L for a client. They used to be our go-to for this kind of project, but not sure about the new touch tech. Thanks.

    Hey There,

To bump this topic I'm also wondering if any of the newer ELO Touch screens with IR are compatible? Specifically the 4206L Infrared (Worldwide) - E222370 which also comes in PCAP (Worldwide) - E222373

    Thanks!

Elo says the PCAP screens are HID so they should work without any problems. The 4206L is also HID and should work. I don't know about the 4206L yet.

We can confirm IR and PCAP ELO screens work:

    3202L, 4202L, 4602L

    5501LT also works fine

We can confirm these Planar Series work:

    PCT2235, PCT2265, PCT2485, PCT2785

Please note... there was a Firmware upgrade (6.1.76) that did not recognize touch on the Planar models. Be sure to use 6.0.51 or the most current firmware (Production).

Multi-touch is only available on XD/XT models for playing back HTML5 content. I am not aware of any gesture support built into BrightAuthor presentation inputs yet.

    TSI-D48-06IDOAR or TSI-D48-06IDOARB - RNDPlus, PulseIR-MT (6 touch), USB

customer reports the following two screens required a usb hub to work, on current units (series3) , and firmware(6.2.147), and they also required changing the emulation mode on the touchscreen to stylus mode.

They use rndplus controller. You can see here from one of our calibration logs.

Samsung Overlay LH48DM (CY-TD48LDAHE)  - this overlay also requires pulseir controller to change emulation to stylus. Uses rndplus controller.

This faq covers how to use the pulseir software.

Looking to confirm Samsung touch overlay CY-TQ85LDA.  I saw in comments that previous Samsung touch overlays (CY-TD48LDAHE) need the pulseIR controller to change emulation to stylus.

Please advise if the touch overlay will require any additional configuration

    Thanks in advance,

I am wondering if anybody can confirm the compatibility with the NEC V404-T Infrared MultiTouch or NEC P404 SST ShadowSense MultiTouch. In the datasheet of the screens it is stated that the Data Interface is USB-HID.

I have the legacy IR touchframe, which is not supported by BrightSign. It's PQ Labs, labeled as U-Touch (s/n: UTM-IR2-1090-46).

I've launched it on win7 after installing the driver from PQ Labs - http://198.58.125.254/download/mt_driver_kit_v4.1705R2.exe

I've found linux driver (ubuntu/fedora) at U-Touch site (hopefully suitable for my IR touchframe) - http://www.u-touch.co.uk/wp-content/mt_driver_kit_linux.tar.bz2

Is there any way to implement this driver at HD1023 player or any other sollution to make it working?
