How do I manually enable the DWS?

Last Updated: September 4, 2015

You can use the attached script to manually enable the Diagnostic Web Server (DWS). To use this script, copy it to the root folder of an SD card or USB flash drive, then insert the card or drive into the player and power it up. The script will enable the DWS, delete itself from the drive, then reboot the player. The DWS will begin working after the player reboots.

Hello, does this works with simple file networking?

You can download autorun.txt file on a blank SD card, change name to autorun.brs, power on the unit with SD card, the diagnostic web server will be enabled. But you then need to recreate setup files for simple file networking.

My BrightSign is already installed miles away but I forgot to enable the DWS.  Can I just add this setting and republish it to the player?  Just asking before I commit.  It is not in an accessible locations on site but I am connected to it through the network.  Thanks!

    Answer is on this page:

    http://docs.brightsign.biz/display/DOC/Editing+Network+Settings+on+a+Player

and BrightSign is kind enough to look at my file to make sure I created the zip correctly.

How would you disable it on a player that already has it enabled?

    The initial example shows

    registrySection.Write("http_server", "80")

Which I understand is writing those values directly to the registry.

Does the same syntax work to erase that value? Or is there a different method for disabling DWS?
