You can use a serial cable to connect your PC to BrightSign players that have a 3.5mm or DE-9 (more commonly referred to as DB-9) serial port, allowing you to view diagnostic output generated by a BrightAuthor:connected or BrightAuthor presentation (or any autorun.brs script running on the player). This may be helpful in debugging content and media problems. You can also view log output over the Diagnostic Web Server or Telnet/SSH.
Note: The 3.5mm serial port can interoperate with some RS-232 compatible devices. It can receive from any RS-232 device, but transmission may not work depending on the electrical characteristics of the device.
Note: You can also enable the BrightScript debugger to debug BrightScript applications.
These are the default connection settings:
- Baud rate: 115200
- Data: 8 bit
- Parity: none
- Stop: 1 bit
- Flow control: none
