Custom: Displaying both the RSS title and description using BrightAuthor.

Important: BrightAuthor:connected and BrightAuthor versions 3.5 and later support displaying both title and description for standard text RSS feeds as well as media RSS (MRSS) feeds.

When a BrightSign player displays an RSS feed, it displays the information in the description field of each item, not the Title. In order to display the title, or both the title and description, you need to use a plugin that you attach to the RSS feed when you add it.

Directions:

  1. Drag the New RSS Feed widget into your Ticker zone.
  2. Enter the Feed name.
  3. Select Url under Feed Specification and add your RSS URL.
  4. Click Browse next to the Plugin Script field and choose either the RSStitle or RSSboth plugin
  5. Enter name of the plugin in the Function Name field: "rsstitle" or "rssboth". Note that, if the Function Name doesn't match what's inside the plugin, the plugin won't run

Note: You can use the same plugin with multiple feeds or use different plugins.

    Hey together,

are there new informations regarding this topic? I can't find the relevant line in an actual autorun-file.

    Greetings

    Hi Maximilian,

You can play RSS feed in the Live Text widget. It allows to display both title and description sections.

I've updated this with directions for using a plugin with your feed vs trying to edit the autorun file directly. I've attached sample plugins and project files.
