My RSS feed isn't updating or only updates when I publish a new project

Last Updated: November 11, 2015

If an RSS/MRSS feed works when you start up the unit or publish a new presentation, but fails to update at other times, the problem is most likely with the RSS update frequency setting.

Go to File > Presentation Properties > Data Feeds and check the Update Interval: It may be set to 12 hours, 24 hours, or even "Once". You can use the dropdown list to shorten the update interval to as little as 30 seconds.Presentation_Properties_-_Data_Feeds.png

    I have set my Update Interval to "Every 5 minutes" but the content is not refreshed during that interval. When I re-published the presentation, it refreshed the content.

    Here is my feed: {mysite} is redacted for security reasons here

    Hi Sabin,

    Were you able to get it working?

    Best regards,

    Eric

    I can't get my mrss feed to fail this way. If I create a feed, and publish it with the mrss widget, it always plays.

    If you publish with debugging enabled to system log, you can log into the player's ip address, and download a copy of the log tab. That should have some output that might help.

    @Eric Simon Thomas

    Yes, I have it working by adding <lastBuildDate> to channel node, <pubDate> to an Item Node.

    I also added LastModified Date to the Header.

    Thanks for the Suggestions.

    @Lyndon

    Before, I had to uncheck "Optimize Feed Updates (use HEAD calls)" in order to work. But now its check by defualt.

    Great! But one more test… Can you perform a network drop test by switching off your router for like 20minutes, then power again and see if the player automatically after this is restoring its feeds requests.

    I am on a Cooperate WiFi Network and so we cannot turn off the Router. Is there an alternative test?

    Please do check twice with HEAD Call on and off.

    Sabin, I'm trying to figure out if this is the same as a support ticket that was logged, I thought, by you. Is this still not updating properly?

    Hi Lyndon, well it could also be me under ticket 51727.

    Romeo just confirmed there is a bug / issue.

    I don't know if this is related but I started getting this error which I posted in another thread.

    I want to have an *.txt file on screen.

    Now problem in the ticker window it works. The text is an TXT file generated bij an radio station playout software, like Michael Jackson - Beat it (in plain text)

    No problem the file was shown at the screen, but when the playout software generate an new number the text was changing (at the original TXT file) but was not refreshed at the Bright Sign.

    Is there an solution for it. (the txt file is available via connected local network

    Same issue, update interval set to 5 minutes.

    Only updating the RSS feed when BrigthSign Player XT244 is rebooted.

    Michael, can you send in a support ticket with a copy of your presentation? I'm not aware of any general mrss update issues that are still open. I have seen an issue with feeds population playfile widgets, but that was fixed in the latest brightauthor.

    If you have something we can replicate, then we can identify the cause.

    Hi Lyndon,

    Taking over from Michael.

    Presentation does update components with the exception of an RSS-feed component which requires a reboot for an update to take effect.

    We are using latest firmware and software.

    Did Michael send you our presentation?

    Thanks in advance
