Access to [ip address] denied using Local File Networking

When BrightAuthor reports Access to [ip address] denied (for example, "Access to 10.1.1.10 denied") in the Publish > Local Network tab, it is indicating that the username and password set on the player doesn't match what BrightAuthor used when trying to access the player.  Possible causes include:

  • The Device Setup process occurred on a different computer.
  • The computer has been replaced or had a clean OS re-install.

To enter the correct username and password:

  1. Right-click the "Access to [ip address] denied" item and select Specify Username and Password.
  2. Enter the username and password used to set up the player.
  3. If you don't know the username and password, you will need to reconfigure the player by performing the Device Setup process again (by going to Tools > Setup BrightSign Unit).

    Arno,

Go to Publish tab, select Local Network, tick 'Networked units' radio button, right-click on the unit, select 'Specify user name and password' and enter the username and password you entered for the local web server when creating setup files for the Local Networking.

But if we don't have the username and password anymore...what is the procedure to solve the problem?

    1. Clean the registry of the player using this method:

    http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/21796878-how-do-i-restore-reset-a-unit-to-factory-default-settings

    1. Re-create setup files for Local Networking. Don't apply username and password for the local web server.

    Local_web_server.jpg

    1. Save setup files onto a blank SD card.

    2. Insert SD card in the unit.

    3. Power up the unit.

    4. In BrightAuthor go to Publish tab, select Local Network, tick 'Networked units' radio button, press '+', enter the IP address of the unit.

    5. If problem persists, close BrightAuthor program.

    6. Retrieve the eventlog.txt file and send it to us. See instructions here:

When I perform these steps on my XD 1132 and my HD 223 I cannot log into either web page or set a password after performing these steps.

If I do setup a username and password on the local web server, I get access denied. Is there a fix for this?

Access denied just means you need to enter the user name and password in brightauthor. So, when you see access denied, right click on the under publish or under manage, choose specify username and password, and enter the username/password you used for setup.

Even if we specify the username and password we still get access denied with fresh, factory restored brightsigns with local web server passwords. It doesn't accept the entered password.

are you talking about access denied when trying to publish or add in local network, or acess denied trying to log into the unit's ip via  your browser?

Both, setting the username and password in the setup brightsign tool and the web browser. If I use the setup brightsign from tools menu, I can add the brightsign, but when I try to publish to it.. I get this error:

I choose to set no password as this support article states, I cannot access the web page to set a password and secure my device. Am I doing something incorrectly?

Which brightauthor are you using?  It could be there's some security software interfering with the publish. I've seen firewall and antivirus software cause problems.

If you don't have the older HD210/1010 models, I'd suggest testing our latest brightauthor 4.6.x software with firmware 6.1.76 on the players.

I am using brightauthor 4.6.0.8 with the latest firmware for my HD 223 and XD 1132.

when we say set no password, that's only for the local server, not for the diagnostic server. But, you shouldn't need to do this with ba 4.6.. what antivirus and security software's installed on this computer? All publishes fail whether a simple project or more complicated?

right after the failed publish, please retrieve the brightauthor eventlog file.

Additional details may be available in the eventlog file that's generated each time BrightAuthor opens. The eventlog.txt can be found in the following location. You may need to set your computer to show hidden files and folders to find this folder. You will need to quit BrightAuthor to open it. Each time you reopen BrightAuthor the file is overwritten. The folder version should match the version of Brightauthor you are using.

    Windows 7
    C:\Users\YourLogin\AppData\Local\BrightSign\BrightAuthor\4.6.0.8

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I received my 10 new XT 1143 units recently. I am experiencing this same issue with Brightauthor 4.6.0.14 and Firmware 6.2.63.2.

Way I am reproducing the issue:

    — Factory reset an XT 1143

    — Run through the web setup

    — I setup the player with local networking over DHCP

    — I set a local web server password so that nobody else can update the boxes

    — I open bright author to add the device to the manage tab, I specify the username/password entered earlier

    — Once the setup is completed I attempt to publish a file to the box and receive an error “Error communicating with the brightsign” or “Error uploading file styles/brightsign.1ea7f101.css to the brightsign

The process works fine if I factory reset the device, but set no password on the units.

    Some images of my issue:

I am trying to rectify the same problem and although we have the username and password from setup it is not working. It seemed as though it was publishing although it still says access denied.
