Notes

  • In BrightAuthor 4.7, MRSS playback will fail if the fileSize specified for a media item is incorrect. If you are using MRSS feeds in your presentations, ensure they report accurate file sizes before authoring with BrightAuthor 4.7.
  • BSNEE 4.4 does not support the "Match All Media Tags to Player Tags" option for Tagged Playlists with BrightAuthor 4.7. This option will be supported in the next version of BSNEE.

Improvements

  • When a BSN device setup package is included with a presentation, the presentation will play while BSN content is downloaded. Previously, the presentation would only play if there was no network connection.
  • Media End events can now be assigned to Live Video states. The event will trigger if the HDMI input has disappeared for 6 seconds or if the sample rate changes during playback.

Bug Fixes

  • 29442: RSS feeds items that lack a <guid> element no longer cause the player to crash.
  • 29107: Presentation playback no longer stops when it encounters an MRSS feed with content that has not downloaded correctly.
  • 28871: An issue with custom BSN device setup files has been fixed.

Bug Fixes

  • A BrightAuthor presentation that contains Tagged Playlists now correctly reports how the presentation will change when you edit tags in the BSN WebUI.
  • Buttons in the following states are now visible with PC screen resolutions smaller than 1920x1080: Image Play File, Audio Play File, Video Play File, Image List, Audio List, Video List, and Media List.
  • The Device Setup window now has scrollbars for smaller resolutions.
  • When an Audio Only Dynamic Playlist is used to populate an Audio List state, the presentation now correctly reports the names of the files played to the BrightSign Network.

Bug Fixes

  • It is now possible to upload a "Regular" BrightWall presentation to BSN if the BrightWall playlist was automatically populated (i.e. using the "file_1", "file_2", "file_3" method).
  • Selecting File > Exit while in the Publish tab no longer causes BrightAuthor to crash. This bug only occurred if the Show Save Schedule dialog box was checked in Edit > Preferences > UI.
  • If a presentation has an Interactive Menu state within a Super State, and that Interactive Menu state contains a Menu Item that links to a media state outside the Super State, then opening the presentation will no longer cause the Menu Item to disappear.

Improvements

  • The Force Resolution box in File > Presentation Properties > Main is now checked by default to match the resolution forcing behavior in versions of BrightAuthor before 4.3.0.x. This change will apply to fresh installs and updates from pre-4.3.0.x versions; if you are updating from an earlier version of 4.3.0.x, your current preference will be preserved.

  • Dragging and dropping a file to a Background Image zone no longer causes a presentation to crash while it is playing.
  • Changing the script plugin of a presentation that is uploaded to the BrightSign Network and then re-uploading that presentation will no longer cause the player to stop.
  • You can now assign the same Parser Function Name to multiple Data Feed parsers.
  • A player with a disabled Local Web Server will no longer crash if you publish to it a presentation that contains a Custom Device Webpage.

Improvements

  • Players that are connected to the BrightSign Network can now detect and report disk I/O errors. This is only available on players running firmware versions 4.7.96 or later.
  • It is now possible to use a script plugin to delete User Variables (this action is currently not available through the user interface).
  • If the Network Diagnostics feature is enabled and includes the Test Internet Connection action, passing this test during player setup will allow the setup process to continue (even if the Ethernet test fails).
  • The length of a Custom Device Webpage name is now limited to 30 characters to prevent errors when the presentation is uploaded to a server.

  • A Conditional Target equation can now accept another variable as the argument in the target value field.

  • When opening a presentation with missing files, BrightAuthor now prompts you for additional file folders if it fails to find all of the missing files in the first specified folder.
