Player cannot resolve domain names ending in ".local"

BrightSign players do not currently support mDNS lookups. Such support is required for the ".local" DNS suffix to be resolvable.

This issue affects all operations on a ".local" domain name, including displaying HTML pages, downloading files, and streaming video.

Note: Network diagnostics on the Diagnostic Web Server will report successful resolution of a ".local" domain name, even though other web services on the player will still fail to resolve it. We're currently working to fix this bug.

We have been going crazy with this issue. Any ETA on when this might be resolved? We would love to test this once resolved.

This isn't fixed yet. It is logged under bug # 25088 and is currently planned for the near future.

When this issue is resolved? Could not get the ImageMrss.xml working on a local server with dns .local adres.

Even a fixed adress to the DNS is not working.
