This is a standard message in OS X Catalina (10.15.x)--in earlier OS versions you could add the exception in that dialog. In OS X Catalina, go to:
Apple Menu > System Preferences
Navigate to Security & Privacy, which should then open a Window like this:
If you've just tried to open BrightAuthor:connected and got the error you sent, then when you get to this window, it should look the same with the message at the bottom which says '"BrightAuthor" was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.' You can click the "Open Anyway" button, which will give you another screen:
Click "Open" on this dialog and BrightAuthor should eventually launch.
