Having just purchased the XC2055 for its ability to go beyond 4K i can see no way of selecting 4k 16:10 which is the native of many projectors we use.
Can someone please advise how to get the standard 4K 16:10 resolution (3840x2400) out of the XC2055 as I'm struggling to find any documentation on the process at all.
My $100 Raspberry Pi did it in about 2 minutes so I'm sure the BrightSign should be capable I just cant figure out how.

3840x2400 is not listed as a supported video mode for any series BrightSign player.
What does your projector status/information show when you connect your XC2055? BrightSigns default to autodetecting the video mode, so it should automatically switch to the native resolution your projector reports via the EDID.
I think the raw EDID information also shows up in the DWS log, if you wanted to have a look at what's going on.

There is a Brightscript method to specify custom video modes…

However, for vertical and horizontal resolution, it‘s constrained to working within the the preset extents:
“A height between the shortest and tallest of any of the preset videomodes (for example, between 288 and 2160 on 4K players)”
You may want to contact support by email and ask whether this video mode will be supported in future.
The method for setting the video mode(s) is slightly different with Series 5 multi-output devices than with Series 3 and 4 (see SetScreenModes() here):
