HD2000 1080p23.98 jaggies and soft picture
I have a video, 1080p23.98 flagged as progressive (fully 23.98 native), that when played on the HD2000 I'm seeing major jaggies on diagonal lines, most noticeable on text (the letter "M" is a good example). The image also looks soft. It looks about the same when using the component out or the HDMI out. Playing the video using VLC on a computer the lines are clean. Interestingly, when I mux the file as a TS and play it on the old Roku Photobridge, the lines are definitely clean and there appears to be more detail, although I didn't do an A/B test.
I am running the Brightsign at 1080i60 using the latest firmware.
Just for fun, I threw in a resolution test pattern (bunch of vertical lines)at 59.94i and there wasn't any high-frequency detail.
What could be causing this? It almost looks like the image is being scaled to a lower resolution, then being scaled back up to 1080i. Can the HD2000 fully resolve a 1920x1080 video?
I would be happy to send the complete clip, but it's about 1.6GB. I could probably chop it up into a shorter clip, if needed, but it might not be a fully compliant/legal file. I can definitely send the test pattern since it is only about 65MB.
Thanks,
