HD1022 - Video always hangs at different places

Hello,

We have a problem with the above mentioned player. I exported a project and loaded it onto the SD card, including a 15 minute video that starts when you press a button.

Now we have the problem that the video sometimes freezes after 3 minutes, sometimes after 8 minutes, there is a freeze frame for a few seconds and the player goes back to the start screen.

Sebastian

More details:

-Directly after starting the device there were no problems with the video, at minute 14 the image froze for half a second, the video continued.
-When starting the device for the second time the video froze briefly in the first few minutes, the video continued. Then there was another freeze, the video continued. Then there was a longer freeze and it went back to the main menu.
-The third start-up process seems more interesting, here the video played through to a certain point (approx. 4 minutes) and then always froze at roughly the same point. During the subsequent starts the video also always seemed to freeze at that point.

File-Information:

Video-Stream: 9760 kb/s, 1440*1080 (16:9) MPEG Version 2
Audio Stream: 128 kb/s, 44, 1kHz, 2 Channels, MPEG-Audio

The problem occurred with two different SD cards

What could be the cause here? I played the video on another HD1022, I also created a test project here and everything worked here. I didn't add any critical functions where I created the current project.

Greetings

To help troubleshoot, if you go to this page on your brightsign it should tell you the cause of the last reboot which may help point to the root cause:

    http://yourplayer/lastkmsg.html

When i've had something similar symptoms in the past its generally been related to:

    - Failing SD card (you've tried replacing)

    - Excess bit rate (yours looks fine)

    - A corruption in the video file on the SD. (When you tried to recreate this issue, was this from a backup of the video or copying the exact file from the problem brightsign? While you are at it, is the SD card formatted as FAT32 or exFAT)

    - Mismatch between brightauthor version and brightsign firmware. The last supported combination for a HD1022 player is:

Thx you Richard, i will try out.

"When you tried to recreate this issue, was this from a backup of the video or copying the exact file from the problem brightsign? While you are at it, is the SD card formatted as FAT32 or exFAT"

Both, I first copied the project from the old to a new card, the error also occurred. Then i created a new project with a new SD card. It seems to worked here first, problems only occurred afterwards.

The video is also ~900MB in size, I don't know if that could be a problem. The strange thing is that it sometimes works (especially after restarting) and the second or third time you play it, there are always problems and it always freezes at a certain point or destroys the project/video on the card. I have to mention that I'm currently using the old SD card again, I've already ordered a new one. It's quite possible that the SD card has an error that is causing this behavior.

We used the video/ old sd card for X years, after which we couldn't start the video anymore because it "crashed" immediately after starting (video could not be loaded, back to the main menu. There is a video that you start by pressing a button. An image is displayed in standby mode) The problem also occurred after copying the project to another SD card. So it wasn't just the SD card, the project/files seemed to be damaged. I then bought a more expensive Kingston Industrial SD card, somehow got hold of the video material and created a new project with BrightAuthor. Either the problem was not noticed during testing or it only occurred later. For some reason, the new SD card was completely broken after two weeks. We also have a second media device where I also replaced the SD card to be on the safe side. The SD card broke here too, which is why the old card is back in.

I will follow your advices and report back.

    Hello,

    Good and Bad News.

I bought a few new sd cards, the problem with the hanging videos seems to be gone. I assume the old sd card had some issue.

However, there is now a sporadic problem that the player does not boot from the card and remains on the start screen. I had this problem before, sometimes power off/on helps, sometimes not.

These two components of the HD1022 board look a bit suspicious to me.

The left component seems to have a bit too much black/green gunk.

The right red box: The upper SMD component looks OK, at the bottom I don't know if it's completely burnt away or if there are just two contacts. It's hard to see with the naked eye. The battery is right next to it. Does anyone know what the assembly is responsible for, whether it can cause problems when booting.
