This summer, the U.S. government announced that it would impose a tariff on certain imported goods manufactured in China beginning September 1, 2019. BrightSign products are now subject to this tariff.
In order to mitigate this problem, BrightSign imported all possible inventory to our California warehouse during the month of August and began ramping up two new manufacturing facilities outside of China.
We expect the inventory warehoused in California to be depleted sometime in Q4, so there will be a window of time before product is available from the new manufacturing facilities, when we must import from China. During this time, approximately October 2019 to March 2020, we will have to impose a surcharge on our products. Please note that this tariff may continue to fluctuate in the near future depending on the outcome of the on-going trade negotiations with China.
