Does your presentation contain serial input events? Do you use a serial or GPIO panel?

This issue is still being under investigation by software team and unfortunately no feedback yet, but given that there was only one support ticket filed before yours, I'd suggest trying to buy Powerball tickets too...

    That's a keeper :)

You need to connect more with your inner otherness to figure that one out...

BrightSign humour I suspect.  This is the message I get when trying to upload one of their demo Presentations to my BSNEE cloud.

The presentation has no serial or gpio input events.

Can you remember what demo exactly you tried to publish? Does this particular demo have any custom plugins?

I know it's 5 months later, but I recently got the same error message, and in my case the resolution was: "It is the error that you get if [any of] the files added to the “Files” tab under Presentation Properties is also used in the main presentation."

    Hi Ted,

Can you give an example of that? A couple screenshots would suffice.

I can't post screenshots of my presentation because the relevant pictures would contain my customer's confidential data.

How about a more complete explanation?  My presentation contained an "Audio Play File" state that referenced a particular .m4a file (call it foo.m4a).  My presentation also contained foo.m4a on the "Files" tab under Presentation Properties.  (The presentation contains custom BrightSign plugins, and the foo.m4a file is also needed by this plugin code - that's why I put it on the "Files" list.)  This caused the error.  The solution was to remove foo.m4a from the "Files" tab; in this case the file is still available to the plugin code because the file will be published as part of the presentation.

I would guess the same thing would happen if you reference any file in the "Files" list in any sort of state (Live Text background image, Video Play File, Audio Play File, Image Play File, Video List, Audio List, Image List, Media List, etc.).

BTW - I'm not sure that this is the only cause of the "Otherness is Different. Sorry!" error; it is just the circumstance that affected me.

Thanks a lot for the example!

Sure, this can be one of many reasons, but the more data about that particular thing the better. This problem happens only to a handful of customers and once in a blue moon, so it often leaves everyone confused as to what might have caused it.
