We just purchased a XD1143 and we are trying to get a weather widget to appear properly on our display. To be sure it can't be that difficult. Can some please assist in the best way to accomplish this. I have tried the widget from accuweather but everything I add it to my HTML5 it come up and just say's loading widget. Any examples or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Devin:

Where are you storing the HTML for the widget? And when you added the URL to your project, did you check the "Enable external data" checkbox?

The way AccuWeather coded that, it is intended to be on a web page on the internet. If it is on a local server it won't work correctly as I recall.

Most of the html weather widgets tend to be finicky when displayed on BrightSign players.

    Thank you.

It works fine if you follow the instructions well and publish from BrightAuthor.

Using Appspace CMS is an entirely different animal. You can think of it as running a different OS environment.

The JavaScript relies on the player's Local Web Server and user variables, so it wouldn't work in the Appspace environment without modification.

Appspace doesn't have something native that you can use?

I have not used Appspace, so I am not familiar with it, sorry.

If you can not find anything that works for you or fits your needs, I do have weather feeds for BrightSign available. I can do any size Zone you need.

There are a lot of posts over at AccuWeather that people have been having issues with their HTML widget not working/updating properly. Weather widgets (HTML) from others also seem to be somewhat temperamental, and don't always work. Most of these were intended for web sites, and not digital signage, so they aren't always reliable.
