user variables

hello, I'm new on BrightAuthor:  connected and I need some advice on the user variables part. I have created the variable 'test' with a default value '' 10 " and I try to put thanks to an URL my document, my. XML file and to be clear I put the file in FileZilla and I update whenever I want. The problem that the value that I modified isn't updated on the screen.. My goal is to obtain this modification directly on the screen without having to republish every time. Thank you in advance for your help

    Your URL is HTTPS - try HTTP.

    It matters because your internal server is probably self-signed or privately signed, so the player does not trust it.
