XD1032 "Waiting for network connection"

3 XD Brightsigns, connected to each other via ethernet, not connected to the web, are running from sd cards.

A old presentation is running just fine. I reopened BA Connect for the first time since 2020 and as a test, opened and burned the exact same presentation that is currently running with no modification onto the same type of card. The screen says: "Waiting for network connection". What could the reason be?

Thanks very much for any advice.

This can happen if you have a blank, formatted memory card inserted in the device and the player can't find a valid presentation, script or media file.

Double-check that your memory card is formatted correctly for the player (very old versions of BrightsignOS didn't support ExFAT, for example) and try deploying your presentation to the card again. Verify the expected contents are on the card using your file explorer / finder.

I think this behaviour depends on how the Brightsign was originally configured (ie. standalone mode).

Thanks Ken. Yes, it had been a while since I'd used the program, and it was a simple matter of remembering to select the target external storage, as you correctly surmised. Cheers!
