Hot-Swappable CompactFlash

Is it a good practice to turn off power to an HD 1010 before changing the memory card or USB memory? or you can change it with the power on.

Please advise.

Best regards.

We recommend powering the unit down when changing cards. Do you have specific need to swap cards out without restarting?

Not an application in particular. My question was more related to the constant memory device replacement during screen design.

I think this would be a great idea if the units were able to recognize that a card had been removed and then when a subsequent card was replaced the unit would recognize that and initialize and load the new card.

This would idiot prof this process as we have many entry level folks who are responsible for swapping cards and they often forget to power off/on and don't know why the unit isn't starting back up... so they call in and DING oh yeah I forgot...

There hasn't been many requests for hot swap functionality. But, one possible workaround is  you could use the video select button. A single press could mean that the card was going to be replaced so the unit should stop all playback, and a second press after switching the card, would make the unit reboot.

This would require a little tinkering with the autoplay file.
