AC3 5.1 Audio over HDMI with 410

Do I have to do something special to play a MPEG2+AC3 (5.1) File so that the AC3 gets sent over HDMI to a connected AV-Receiver which does the decoding and amplifying? Right now I simply named the file autoplay.mpg. Until now I don't get any audio and I suspect that it doesn't get passed through from the HD410.

The very same file nicely gets played and decoded to the analog outputs on a HD2000. The only problem is, that I can't use the HD2000 because its not available anymore.

Or is there any other method to get the AC3 decoded to analog audio with a HDx10 as the source? (Decoder connected via USB?!)

Thanks
Oliver

The HD2000 will decode the ac3.

The HD410 will pass it through over HDMI, but won't decode it. So, unless you have a receiver connected to the HDMI or a monitor that decodes ac3, you would get no audio.

The compacts, including the 410, currently will pass through the raw ac3 over HDMI.

The audio automatically will go over HDMI if you are using an HDMI resolution. When the HD2000 is used, does the receiver indicating it's receiving ac3 over the HDMI?

    Hi,

Keep searching forums for info and making a map of things I need to know, so please forgive all my little questions: When you write "The audio automatically will go over HDMI if you are using an HDMI resolution" what is meant by the term "HDMI resolution"?

    HI,

in later version of BA (3.4.x+) you will  need to specify the audio output via the Zone properties as HDMI if you want it to be routed to HDMI as well as ensuring that you have "Pass through" selected if you're outputting AC3 audio.
