Brightsign Networking Basics
....later than below....
Lyndon, it's amazing that you put up with people like me.
Your document BrightAuthorNetorking.pdf was perfect... showing the TWO ways to enable networking and especially turning on Error Logging with the autorun.brs file.
My error was in file sizes of the uploaded autorun.xml, resouces.txt and current-sync.xml. All caused by using Filezilla to upload in the Auto mode. Switching Filezilla to Binary update.... even for the ASCII files... did the trick.
Thanks, again,
Bob
BrightAuthor Networking
Lyndon,
I can create presentations with BrightAuthor 1.0.1.1.
I publish to a disk folder called "toCard", then copy the contents to the SD card
The show runs well and RSS feeds are downloaded & displayed correctly.
Networking is problematic.
1) Why is "Publish Network Setup Files Now" (for current-sync.xml) a separate item and savable to a directory different from the project files?
2) In Sign Properties, "Enable Networking" is checked.
A proper path (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.xxxxx.com/yyy">http://www.xxxxx.com/yyy</a><!-- m -->) is provided.
The web folder is publicly available.
Exactly what files go into the network folder?
All the project files, old and new?
Only the new files?
Only the new current-sync.xml (created from a modified project)?
Also...
Sometimes my new current-sync.xml (on the web) is essentially empty, so the show plays until update time, then stops, and the unit erases the content from my SD card, but because no new files were specified in current-sync.xml, it dies, reboots, and gives only the BrightSign logo.
Thanks,
Bob
