HD 1010 not sending video through vga cable

An HD 1010 we have appears to not be sending any video through a vga cable. We have check the card and all connectors on a second hd 1010 and it works. It seems to be a problem with the specific unit.

It has the latest firmware installed but not even the roku splash screen shows up when there isn't a card inserted.

Are there any error lights flashing on the unit? Can you download the firmware form our website, copy it to a flash card, and hold down the gpio12 button when powering up the unit. You can release the button when the update light comes on.

This will reinstall the firmware in safe mode.

If you connect to HDMI, does it work? One thing I'd like to try is putting a playlist on the unit that sets video mode to a vga resolution, and see if we get a signal.

No, there are no error lights. The unit is at the install site and the person having trouble with the unit does not have any way to download the firmware. There is no hdmi cable for them to be able to test whether or not it works on an hdmi.

As I've said before, the same content and cables work on another unit, so the playlist is set to work with vga.

I didn't know how the content was setup on the player.

If you startup a unit with no video mode set, the unit will query the monitor over vga or hmdi to find out what resolutions the monitor support at what refhresh rates, and will then check what it supports to find the best match.

I didn't know if there was a playlist or if this handshaking proess was working on one unit and display, but not on another unit and display.

If the unit is bad, we can replace it. Please send me an email at support@brightsign.biz.
