Using 1 roku to start others?

Hi, I ordered a bunch of HD810 units to do a project, but the project has now changed and I'm wondering if I can still use the HD810 units. We have 3 monitors side by side that need to start playing 3 different videos at the exact same time. Is it possible to use a "master" roku to cue the other 3 to start playback at the same time or is there another solution you would recommend? FYI--This needs happen automatically at the beginning of each day. Thanks

You can do this with the HD810. It has a realtime clock, so you can set the date and time on it, or if the units are powered off at night then they can play together at startup.

You will need to connect the units to each other using the GPIO port. Specifically, you can connect the master to the other two units using the master's gpio output. Each slave would see the gpio connection from the laster as a button push. So, the master could signal the slaves to play when it gets ready to play.

Thanks for the speedy reply....do you think this would be likely to fall out of sync more so than networking say 3 HD210 units?

No, it doesn't need to necessarily.

We recommend  synchronizing via network normally, but customer use serial and many have used gpio in the past for sync.

I'll try the schedule feature...Outside of that can you help me with a script for 1 master and 2 slave HD810 units?

Want to playback on 3 LED TVs that are 1920 x 1080p.  My idea is that the 1st HD810 will boot with power on and after like 5 mins will cue itself and the other 2 players to start playing the videos. Each LED plays only 1 video file.

FOr h.264 files, they need to be transport streams. So, if you have an h.264 that's an mov or mp4, you can use a utility like tsmuxer to make it a transport stream. The extension should be .ts.

How many files are you synchronizing? Is this just looping content, or are files playing when triggered by a button press for example?
To synchronize over gpio, you'll need a gpio cable  so you can connect the master HD810 to the two slave units.

Switched to HD 201 units...much more user friendly.  All up and running
