Bright Author software on the Mac

Are there any plans to create a version of Bright Author for OSX?

BrightAuthor does not specifically require Windows hardware - it will run fine in a Windows virtual machine as many Mac OS customers do.
Also keep in mind that a single Windows/BrightAuthor machine is usually sufficient unless you have many players or content creators.

The fact of the matter is developing a native Mac OS BrightAuthor will significantly increase our development and QA time, not to mention cost..

As others have noted you can also use BrightSign Network for basic (single-zone), HTML and template-based (BrightPlates) authoring via web browser.  BrightPlates is also available separately if you don't want/need a full BrightSign Network subscription.

Additional options also exist.  See this article for more details:

We don't have one planned currently, but we haven't received may requests for this. Currently, we recommend users use a program like parallels or some other emulator to run the windows version.

Please consider this your first request.  I think you will find that more people entering the digital display market will be creating their content on the Mac and it would be great to have your application run natively on OSX.

This is another request for Bright Author for Mac.  There are a lot of museum's and galleries that are Apple only and it is a mighty pain in the butt to figure out ways to making things work without Bright Author.

I would love a mac version.  There are lots of mac on High ed desks as well.
I have it on my pc and makes a quick updates a hassle.
A media conversion utility or Real walkthough for media conversion would be nice as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by a media conversion utility. There are almost too many of them out there already. There are plenty of free tools, but if you're doing a log of media conversion, the best solution is to find a good tool and buy it. I use a program from ELecard called Converter Studio that works great. In some cases, the free tools work well, and sometimes they don't. It depends on what your'e converting from.

Please put me down for BA for Mac.
Most video/music creators I know are on Mac so I'm sure there's a market for it if not very soon at least.
Just had to buy Windows 7 and Parallels.
Would have love to have avoided that if possible!

Consider this another request for a Mac version.

I understand you guys say "We haven't had much request for a Mac version", and this thread already has over 10+ requests for it.  So how many people want it that didn't bother to register to request it?

(And yeah, I just created this account to request a Mac version!)

+1 on the Mac version.  We are using VMWare Fusion to run Windows on a virtual machine, but a Mac native program is definitely preferable.

    Hi There,

I've just registered to show my interest in a version of BrightAuthor for OS X

Being relatively new to this, I'm surprised it didn't already exist!

Think I posted a request like this a while ago but if this is the "official" request thread, count me in also.

this is another request for BrightAuthor version for Mac OS X -

I make media for and install major museum and gallery exhibitions around Australia, using solely Macs -

I'd like to use your product line and it would be a LOT more attractive and useful to me if there was a BrightAuthor Mac interface

    that's my 2 cents

Add me to the mac list as well.   This is actually the only thing that is making us consider going with a different provider.  We are in the need for hundreds of users but since Mac is not supported I do not forsee us moving forward with Brightsign unfortunately...   I feel that is also a reflection to propsective clients that Brightsign is behind or doesn't keep up with consumers needs.

Put me down for a vote for Mac. I am a current brightsign user. All my content is created and controlled with a mac. problem is I have ot fire up parallels, which is an unecessary resource hog. I also wish I could view the status of my brightsign Network connected signs from an iOS device. Heck, the easiest solution is to make this entire thing an HTML5 enabled web application.

All that being said, as much of a pain int the rear using Parallels is, the service and software works REALLY well.

I'm a sounddesigner. I work on OSX. So does a majority of audio-artists.  The company I work with for a big media-project provides multiple  brightsign players for a big project. So i manage with the Pc of my daughter ;)

For an upcoming event with multiple mediaplayers, I can choose my own devices.

please consider Osx a BrightAuthor Mac interface!

I'd love a Mac version as well. Currently running a Mac for all my content creation, but then have to switch to PC. We're looking to use Brightsign to replace a lot of old mpeg2 replay units at the Natural History Museum in London, and it would make life a lot simpler for us.

Chris, are you just doing fullscreen looping playback?

Hi Support America - we have a variety of applications we are going to use the Brightsigns for, from simple loops through to more complex pushbutton and touchscreen programs. I am aware that for the simple loops you can just drag the files to the card, but the BrightAuthor is going to be used for the more advanced applications. A Mac version would be brilliant.

I have never touched a PC before having to use BrightAuthor.  Since all of my video workflow is Mac based, it is a pain to throw in a Windows based machine to complete the last 5% of my project.

Please let me know when you are in need of beta testers!

    Thanks.

We would love a Mac version of Bright Author.  We do all our media creation on Macs.  Our vendor has been LAME on training us to use Brightsign products, but moving our files to jump drives to a PC laptop is cumbersome.

    Thank you
