Delete items in a playlist

Is it possible to delete say one item from a playlist? For example I have 6 pictures that loop round and I want to get rid of one that is now outdated?

    Select an item, and hit the delete key on the keyboard.

    So easy if you know how to do it,  I must have spent half an hour trying to do this!
