4GB file limit in FAT32

Hi How do I get past the 4GB file limit in FAT32? I have two films that need to play in sync and they are 9.5GB each. If I cut it up in three pieces I get annoying jumps two times. Is there no other filesystem ie exFAT, HFS+, Linux that can be used? Thanks, Mats

Format the cards as ntfs. Are you using brightauthor for playback?

Yes I use Bright Author - does it work with NTFS?
If so it is really good new!

No, currently brightauthor tries to make a change to the card that's not supported under NTFS. This hasn't been fixed yet. How many videos are you synchronizing?

I'm only syncronizing one video on each player.
Wouldn't it be possible to make a dummy shorter video in bright author and then copy that to an ntfs card and exchange the video to a longer one?

    What were you thinking?

Thanks again for your swift reply,

    Hello Mats / Lyndon,

I am trying to configure a system for a client (an artist) using Roku / Brightsign players, and I have run into two issues that I have seen the two of you discussing in recent posts of this forum.  Hopefully you don't mind me jumping in to the conversation, as I have not seen that either of these matters were resolved.

My first question relates to the topic of this post (the issue of using NTFS file system with the players / BrightAuthor software).

As in Mats' case, I need to play much longer / larger video files from these players.  Have you found that it is possible to substitute a dummy clip into the software, as you proposed in the last post?  Or is there some other way of getting much larger (32GB+) files to play on these machines?

For NTFS, you'll need to format the card or drive as ntfs. THe problem isn't the publshing via brightauthor, but the playback. We don't currently support writing to ntfs by the brightsign, so there's a rename that occurs at startup that will fail. But, you can use a script for the playback. I can help with that if I don't already have a script that fits your needs.

I have done some work with the hms boards, for dmx output. I know they have some sample files on hms website as well.

If you have a monitor that has a good deinterlacer, then setting the brightsign to 1080i lets the display do the work. IF you set the brightsign output to 50p, then the brightsing will do the de-interlacing. For 1080p, only 1080@29.97 output isn't deinterlaced by the brightsign. I mean setting the brightsign output to that resolution and rate.
