Shipping to Germany

Hi all,

we currently use a PhotoBridge for video playback in a small muesum. In the near future, we intend to extend our setup by a few more of these video kiosks. Since the PhotoBridge is discontinued, the BrightSign seems to be just perfect for that. Trouble is, I am located in Germany. Expansys Germany did carry the PhotoBridge back then, but they don't have the BrightSign now.

So, what is the best way (if there is any) to get hold of a few (1-5) BrightSign boxes in Germany? It looks as if Roku shipped directly. Is there any known trouble associated with having them sent over here directly?

What would postage, taxes and customs duty ammount to for 5 devices?

  Customs should be around 5% for imports of MP3-Players into the EU.
  
  
  
  OF course pending special regulations for RoKu. I'd like to know what the EU customs classification code (TARIC) of RoKu products is.

  Dont forget the 19% (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer) which is the VAT equivalent that you will have to pay in addition to the import taxes that may apply. Also unless they ship with a full service provider you will need to pick up the package personally at the next tax office in the next larger town!
  
  
  
  If you knew someone in the US then you could simplify this for you by having it shipped as a gift to you from this person.   But I guess as long as the shipping isnt too expansive it will pay out anyway with this weak Dollar. I almost start to wonder when they rename the Dollar to Zloty. <!-- s8-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8-) --> Some electronics are half the price in the US now compared to good old europe.

  IF you don't know, it's alright, then it will be classified as MP3-Player without recording capabilities, and that would yield in 5% import customs. Which is alright I guess.
