Audio problems.

During a autorun show of a really high quality mpeg, the images appear normal, but the musical soundtrack flickers. Is there any limitation as to what the ROKU can handle when it comes to audio? Should there be a specific bitrate for soundtracks?

This Mpeg functions perfectly fine on normal desktop units.

    What do you mean the soundtrack flickers? There's no max bitrate, but the audio layer needs to be 48Khz. If it's not, you would have problems.



    How are you playing back the video? Are you using a csv file, or just autoplay.mpg?



    If your video does have a 48K sample rate, I'd like you to upload the video to our ftp server so we can test it.  I'll send a followup email.

    The video is being played using the autorun file.  We are checking the sample rate now.



    Flickering may not be the right word, the effect is more of a audio lag.  Where every second or two, a chunk of the audio drops out, then comes back.  



    Another issue has arisen while testing this file, after playing the 11 minute video a few times, the video begins to stutter.  Jerky motions and such begin to appear.   I'll post more information as my tech progresses with this.

    Another interesting development.  After running a Roku a few times, the video begins to stutter, but the audio is works correctly.  They seem to trade off.  We are continuing to the run the Roku to see if they switch again.

    The audio "flicker" is because the audio sample rate is 44khz instead of 48Khz. The brightsign requires 48K.



    I haven't been able to duplicate the video stutter yet. Is the video stuttering occasional, or does it happen throughout during playback?

    The update you sent fixed the video stuttering problem.  The audio problem remains though.  We will reconfigure the video to the proper sampling rate, and test it again.

    Good to hear. I was only able to duplicate the video problem when I reverted to 1.073 software as well.

    Just an update:



    Opening the video in ulead movie studio and resaving it as an mpeg with 48Khz audio instead of 44Khz fixed the audio stuttering problem.
