Trouble Audio Encoding on Mac

We are having trouble encoding video with stereo audio on a Mac.

We are exporting H264 movies with AAC LC audio from Final Cut Pro, then creating a transport stream in VLC. We have tried transcoding and not transcoding, we have tried H264, MPEG-4, we have tried VLC for Windows, we have tried different input formats - PCM audio, and export formats AAC LD. We have tried muxing an MP3 file with H264 video before passing through VLC for encapsulation.

Same result everytime - we get 1920 x 1080 beautiful video quality (!) but no audio on playback.

We can play the BrightSign test files fine downloaded from the website so the hardware is fine.

Driven mad. Any ideas?

Can you upload a sample video file to our ftp server to look at? You can email me at support@brightsign.biz.

For h.264, only aac audio is supported. Have you tried setting the audio bitrate to fixed instead of variable. I had a case once where the customer couldn't get variable to work from final cut.
