Issues with Simple Network

Hi, 1. Why does the actual displayed presentation stops as soon as a new one has been downloaded from the web server? (the old one stops immediately, even if scheduled time out is not reached and the new one starts later on at the scheduled start time.) Thx Carlo

This is not expected behavior. The current presentation should keep playing.

WHich version of brightauthor do you have, and what firmware release are you using?
Can you send a sample playlist to support@brightsign.biz ? Please go to the file menu, do a file, save as, and send me the project file.

    Hi!

I also have the same problem with a network project i have begun working on. We don't actually user BrightAuthor as we have implemented a web inferface to create the playlists, schedules and sync-files.

I am actually using BrightSign HD210 with firmware 3.1.73, the Simple Network setup script i am using is version 3.0.0.1 (that's the one generated with BrightAuthhor!) and the autplayer script is version 3.1.0.13-mod-082509 created on July 27, 2009. We are using this one as the ones generated with BrightAuthor are XML files that are not compatible with the web application we have, we are using the "traditional" way found in the user manual:

    - An "autoschedule.txt" with the hours and contents that should be played.
    - An "autorun.brs" with the script version i mentioned previously
    - A bunch of "bsp" that we create with all the contents to be played
    - A "current-sync.xml" with the files to check and download from the server
    - A "pool" dir with all the downloaded content
    - A bunch of media files to be played in each .bsp

    The thing that happens is:

    - BrighSign is actually playing "content1.bsp" for example from 9PM to 10PM each Monday. At that moment we update the autoschedule in our servers in order to make another "content2.bsp" to play on Sundays from 7AM to 11AM. The HD210 connects to our servers, sees the differences between out current-sync.xml an the one it has, downloads the current-sync, also sees that there are new files to download, downloads them...and then reboots, stopping all videos. I mean, if i updated some content, that's not even the one that's playing now, in a time and date thats in the future...how come the player restarts? It's pretty weird!

Thanks a lot for your time

Sorry! I mentioned we were using the simple network setup script version 3.0.0.1 and we are using 3.0.0.2, that's the one BrightAuthor creates!

A little update on the subject. I upgraded the firmware to version 3.2.67...and the reboots for every content downloaded from our servers still happening

I mean, it's not a very very big problem as updates aren't very frequent...but it's annoying! I guess that the only time when a reboot should be performed is when autorun.brs is changed and maybe when the actual content that's being displayed based on the schedule is changed...but not for EVERY piece of content downloaded!

    Thanks!!

Is your server extnernal? Could you send me info to connect one of my units to it, at support@brightsign.biz
Autorun changes, and resolution changes, and firmware updates cause reboots. Nothing else should.

I do these kinds of updates regularly with a simple file server, and also using the dropbox service and my units don't restart.
