Video Content for HD210 and VC100



What would the recommended video format and size be when using the VC100 converter module? I am working with a customer and they provided a video clip what was 640x480. I figured that would be fine due to the low resolution of the output of the VC100. But the first issue was that the video played back at about twice the speed that it should have. I am using a Mac and QuickTime says that the clip is MPEG2, 2046.08 kbits/s, and 29.97 fps. Though VLC lists different bit rates. The customer also re-encoded the video in H.264 but that did not play on the HD210. I tried using some software to change the original MPEG2 clip to TS and VOB formats with some of the results ending very poor. The video in TS format was very shaky. Would starting with a higher resolution video help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The only videos I've seen playback faster are mpeg1 elementary streams that aren't supported. I would confirm the video is actually an mpeg2. I know some programs will generate an mpeg1 if the file playing has no audio.

    The content itself doesn't affect the VC100. IT can be one file fullscreen, or multiple zones playing.

    For an h.264 file, it would have to be in a transport stream container. If he redid the file in final cut, it's most likely an h.264 in a quicktimne wrapper. You can use a program like tsmuxer to change the container from mov to transport stream, without any re-encoding.

    There's a womble utility called mpeg2vcr that can easily change that from an mpeg1 to an an mpeg2. It works very well on mpeg1 and mpeg2 videos.

    I am still having some issues with the quality of playback.  The main issue is that the video has some thin horizontal lines that when displayed flicker.  This is both on the VGA output and VC100.  Playback of the file on the PC is smooth and the lines are sharp.
