HD Video playback...... what a hassle!

I have a HD810 here that I am trying to playback some HD video on. The video has been output from final cut, and so is H.264 encoded MOV file. I have seen some talk on the forum about MOV file support coming.... can we have a timeframe on that as MOV support would be very useful! At any rate, converting from MOV to TS is a pain and I am yet to have success with it. I have read many other posts about this process. Using TSmuxer, it still comes up with an error when converting...'some tracks not recognized...' I have had some conversions work, but without audio. It has been such a hassle, that my client has now dumped the idea of using HD video playback in the exhibition ( and brightsign players) and opted for the good old SD DVD. For them, not a good first experience of the brightsign product. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm sorry to hear you were having problems, but you do have several options.

    tsmuxer is  a free utility. I know another user posted directions for exporting final cut mov files that would then work properly with tsmuxer.

    If you wanted to try free utilities initially, you could have also tried ffmpeg or vlc media player.

    If a free utility works great for, then that's good, but what I would recommend is finding a good converter. Currently, if you need to use h.264, and your encoder can't create a transport streams, then I would recommend something like like Elecard Converter Studio. I believe Pinnacle studio will also convert mov to ts.

    Or, better yet, you could export to mpeg2 directly and not use h.264. Final cut and compressor can generate HD mpeg2 files which the brightsign plays natively. There would be no need to convert content at that point. Most of our customers use mpeg2.

    Direct mov support for mpeg2 and h.264 encoded files is in early testing and will show up at the earliest by the end of the quarter. It could take longer.

    Did you email support about this problem? I'm copied on all support requests and I didn't seen any emails on this topic. Did you try using mpeg2 but have problems and that's why you were trying to use h.264? I assume the client wouldn't care what encoder was used for the hd content so long as it was HD.
