HD1010 RS232 output difficulty for TV "on"

I'm trying to configure unit to control LG TV. I'm testing output of HD1010 using hyperterminal connected via null modem cable. When presentation "fires", I see a character in hyperterminal (looks like a backwards letter L), but not the command I have configured for TV on (which works when I connect hyperterminal directly to TV with same cable). TV turns on fine if I use hyperterminal, type ka 01 01 and press enter The command I'm using is: ka 01 01 I have HD1010 configured for 9600 8,N,1 I have hyperterminal also set for 9600, 8,N,1 and have tried xon/xoff, no flow control and hardware flow control In BrightAuthor, I have the presentation Media Properties configured for: Command "Serial-send string (EOL)", Port "0", String "ka 01 01" BA version is 2.3.0.57, HD1010 firmware 3.7.44 any ideas on what I have misconfigured?
