Sync Multiple Units

I would like to use three HD600 or three HD2000 units and try to sync their play. I have three different video files that are the same video frame size and length. The file is an animated logo that when synched on the three units will look like it is "flying" between the three monitors.

I plan on using a input on the DB25 (one pushbutton connected in parallel to the three units) to start sync with a script.

How close in frames or seconds can sync be maintained. I plan on trying to keep the files less than 60 seconds.

    Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I'm interested in the sync capabilities of the HD2000 as well.  We plan on having video (identical length) synced on 3 displays.  I'm assuming they would eventually drift over time without some feedback.  Is there any recommended way to keep them in sync?  Any success stories?

    We have at least two projects I know of where we've sychronized brightsigns. It requires a custom cable, for which we can provide a schematic, and a custom script.



    Can you describe how your particular display will work?

    How long are your videos?

    You can synchronize multiple BrightSigns within 1.5 – 2 frames.



    We can provide a diagram of the cable you will need to connect the units together. It's not difficult to make. If necessary, we can find someone who could make the cable for you. In addition to the cable, there are two custom scripts that will synchronize the content. One goes on the main (master) BrightSign, and the other script goes on the remaining units. The cable described in the diagram would connect the three units together. So, you would:



    1. Put a copy of the videos on the flash card

    2. Put the master script on the main unit.

    3. Put the slave script on the other units.

    4. Connect the units together unit the custom cable.

    I assume the script uses 1 unit to send a GPIO and listener units to wait for the GPIO recieve and start.



    Is the 1 to 2 frames over what time period. Is it 1 to 2 frames over an hour of video?  Is the 1 to 2 frames a function of the clock speed of the GPIO scanning, ie 10 to 12 per sec GPIO scanning non-sync with each other would produce a 1 to 2 frame offset between start commands on each unit.



    Basically I want to know if the 1 to 2 frames is video clock drift or latency in the GPIO commands or both. The reason for my interest is whether we can depend on an in-sync start with drift, or a +-0 to 2 frame offset from the beginning, with little drift throughout.



    I would like to achieve a predictable finish on multiple screens.



    Is it possible to use TCP to more accurately synchronize units ?

    We don't currently have sync support over ethernet, but we are exploring a better way to sync the units.



    The sync is not a GPIO issue, but a drift in the clock on the units. And the drift occurs over time. Please email me at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:lallydice@roku.com">lallydice@roku.com</a><!-- e --> and I'll forward the scripts you can use to test.

    Hi I want to have two HD 600s stay in sync or close enough for a 28 min video. One wil play a non closed caption video and the other an identical video but with closed caption. When a hearing impaired guest clicks his, her clicker a video only switcher will switch to the closed caption player.

    Will two HD600s getting the same start command stay in sync within one frame for the 28 minute video? If not will the master and slave scripts with the special cable work in this case with  two HD600s?

      Also since there is no sync connection on these units will there be a problem running the video signals through a video switcher and being displayed on Sharp LCD HDTVs?

    Either way can you email me the scripts and the schematic for the cable?

    I am looking to sync four HD1010 units.

    Can someone send me the cable diagram?

    Also does anyone have a script that can get feedback from the video to ensure they sync up?

    THe way synchronization works on the brightsing is the master signals the slave when it's ready to play. THe units aren't frame accurate.

    Hello, I also have around 8 HD2000 that needs to be in sync. If I could have the diagram + sync-script forwarded, i´ll be happy. How long can this custom cable be, more than 20 feet? Is it still not possible to sync via ethernet?

    Can you send me an email at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:support@brightsign.biz">support@brightsign.biz</a><!-- e -->? Yes, you can sync via ethernet, but you need a custom script or a modified version of our autorun to do sync over ethernet using an interactive playlist. I can provide one.



    Are you syncrhronizing one file on all units, or multiple files?

    Hello, I have the same problem( and send you an email Lyndon) but maybe there is a solution in the meantime: is there a way to have the units frame accurate ? I need that urgently in fact to have it solved, since the installation is already installed to play anytime.. thanks! Marieke

    I am looking at syncing three LS424 via ethernet. Is it possible to grab of a copy of the modified scripts for master and slave units?

    This thread is outdated.

    The easiest way to sync 3 LS424's now is by using the BrightWall feature.
