Kiosk control with bright sign...

Alright, this may be a little far-fetched so bear with me.

We would like to mount a monitor on a wall about eye-level height or so. Pushing video to this monitor would be a BrightSign.

We would also like a kiosk about waist height that would be a touch panel of some sort with the ability to select videos.

Now, we would like to use as little equipment as possible, so my first question is: Can the BrightSign run a touchpanel control kiosk and the video display monitor by itself?

I am assuming that it would not be able to, but if it can please correct me.


Now then, assuming that the HD600 (or 2000) cannot run both the control kiosk and video display at the same time, what would be the best way to achieve this outcome?

Currently we're thinking it might be simplest to run an Elo Touch panel off of a PC that is attached to the Roku via RS-232. From what I've read this isn't a problem. We were just trying to avoid 2 peices of hardware -if- we could.

  This is very easy to do with the BrightSign, so not far-fecthed at all. With the HD600 you can use Elo or 3M touchscreens, which accept USB input. The BrightSign will drive the touchscreen without any other equipment.
  
  
  
  The HD2000 currently works with Elo touchscreens.
  
  
  
  For the video output, you would split the video signal from brightsign. So, you wouldn't use more than one video output from the brightsign, but the same video output split with one connector going to the touchscreen, and the other going to the display overhead.
  
  
  
  On the brightsign, you can setup an interactive demo like you describe very easily, using a simple spreadsheet. If you look at the CSV section of the user's guide, there are examples and directions. If necessary, I can send you a sample csv file that does what you have described, to get you started.

  About output signal, any idea if we could we use more than one video output type at the same time (e.g. HDMI + VGA) ?
  
  Is it a better solution than splitting the same video source into 2 monitors?

  When using resoutions (720p or 1080i), you could also connect an adapter to the vga out so it can be used for component as well. So, you could drive two hd displays. In this case, the signal wouldn't be split.
