MPEG-2 Encoding Specs

I notice the manual calls to just use a specific setting in Compressor. But I don't have compressor.

Can someone tell me what the exact encoding specs are for the HD2000?

I have a 1920x1080p (23.98 fps) QuickTime.

Thanks.

    Those were just compressor directions.

For the 2000, you need to export:

    An mpeg1 or mpeg2 file

    Max bit rate of 25mbps

    Max resolution of 1920x1080i

It must be an mpeg1 system stream or an mpeg2 program stream

If the program you use can't save mpeg1 or mpeg2 files, you can convert the file to an mpeg1 or mpeg2. Although, ideally, you want to try and create the mpeg1 or mpeg2 file directly without converting from another format.

On the mac, ffmpegx and mpeg2works4 are two utilities that can convert from quicktime to mpeg2. There are many programs.

    Hi,

I use TMPGenc express v4. (http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/te4xp.html). You can convert almost any video file format, edit, tweak, resize, replace audio, create reuseable templates, batch encode. I've tested several MPEG encoding utilities as well as Adobe Premier CS3 and this does a superior job. It's also easy to use. Well worth the $99. Try the Demo version. (wish I had stocks...)

I ended up running an encode with Episode and it looked really good. Then the client needed surround, so I ran an encode with PixelTool's MPEGRepairHD (since it can mux an AC3 with the MPEG-2 elementary stream) and wow, what a beautiful encode!

    Thanks for your input.
