help with Roku 410 decision

I am in need of a device that will host 4 video files. These files will sit dormant 99% of the time so no output will be displayed or a simple jpg can fill the screen. A client has a device that has a simple set of outputs that trigger based on events. How this works is it momentarily closes a connection on a relay to signal an external event. To be more specific, it is tied to an electronic kiosk, and when the user finishes their session and checks out, they want a video to play on the external screen relaying additional messaging based on their specific purchase.

What needs to happen is event 1 triggers video 1 to play then go back to generic jpg screen and hold.

Event 2 would trigger event 2, etc.

It is simple in theory. I currently have a dvxf100 mpg playing device that I am using and the switching part works fine. There is a RJ45 connector on this unit used as an interface with the relays based on pin numbers. When the relays activate they signal this device to play the corresponding video, however the unit does not have any logic other than this, and simply plays all videos in an endless loop the rest of the time making it unusable for this application.

I am considering the 410 for this task and need to have it up and running in under 2 weeks, including writing the code for the Roku. I worked previously with a Roku Brightsign 2000? and remember it being difficult to get the code to output basic video, let alone have logic to interface with a remote system si I am a little intimidated by the ROku. I understand it is a powerful tool with many great options, but I need to turn this project around fast.

Can anyone advise me on this? I have left 3 messages with Roku sales and still no call back so I thought I'd try here. This project is urgent and I need to have a workable solution in the next day or two.

Thanks in advance.

What you describe sounds pretty straightforward and could be done using an interactive playlist.  Unless I heard you incorrectly, you can use the gpio port for the input. since you're using contact closures. How many different videos do you need to trigger?

The 410 has 8 gpio inputs so it can take 8 triggers that way. If you connect over ethernet or serial instead, then it can take as many as you need.

I sent you a csv file that accepts 8 inputs and plays 8 different videos based on triggers on the gpio port..
