Queue Tickets

Hi Just a question. I was looking to be able to present a system with a simple queue ticket system. The customer would pick up a paper ticket at the shop and the queue number would be displayed on screen, together with LiveVideo and ads. Using the gpio interface one can use a trigger to move forward or backard a number, for example in a jpeg file from 1 to 100. At the end the system would reset to zero. In this way customer could see when hes being called. I´m considering the HD1010 with the live video module. In terms of programming i believe the brightsign can handle this easily; the display would be divided with zones and one would be the window with the customer queue number. Is this possible to achieve 1 Regards Carlos (RMUSIC - Portugal)

Yes, what you describe can be done very easily using BrightAuthor. As you say, if you're just using images for your queue, then you can move easily with a gpio trigger.

    Hi

I´ve checked the interactive playlist and saw that with the gpio command enabled in every picture one can define easily this kind of "slideshow" and return to the first one. Just waiting for the machine to arrive next week to try this!

    Thanks for valuable help.

    Hi there,

I'm in a similar situation with a customer asking us to set up a queue tickets system via BrightSign. I was wondering how you have set up your system and if it works properly. Do you use a hardware button to send a GPIO trigger to the unit or some kind of software via a PC? Can i buy such a hardware button plug-and-play for this system? I'm completely new to this kind of stuff, so any explanation would be really helpful. Thanks!

I can answer the question about the button. IT can be a hardware button, and you can purchase buttons to connect to the gpio port.

Thanks for your reply RokuLyndon. Do you have a link to a supplier of such hardware buttons? I can't find any myself. Thanks.

    EDIT:

I already figured out how to make such a button, but it gave way to some more questions:

    - Which current does the input signal need to be (for input through GPIO)?
    - If I have three buttons (button 1, 2 and 3), can I just connect them to pin 1, 2 and 3? And is this corresponding with the GPIO input 1, 2 and 3 in BrightAuthor?
    - Do I need connect any other wires than those of the buttons aswell? Ground or something?

    1. No current is required for inputs. It's  a simple contact closure. No power required. THe hardware manual explains how the gpio port works.

    2. You need to look at the hardware guide for the pinouts and for how to wire the buttons to the unit. Page 6 of the hardware manual has pinouts. There might be another solution you can use. HMS-Electronics makes a small adapter that plugs into the gpio port and has terminal blocks. You can simply connect your wires to the appropriate terminal blocks, and screw them down. It simplifies the wiring process. They have a website.

ping 7 is button 1, ping 13 is button 2, and pin 5 is button 3.

    3. Again, reading the hardware manual will explain that you need to both the ground and the pin for a specific button for the contact closure to work. When the button is pressed, the contact is closed taking that particular button to ground. So, for each button connection, you need a connection for that pin, and a conneciton to ground.

I overlooked the hardware manual. I think I can work it out now. Thank you.

We need to display queue numbers on monitor with brightsign.
Until now we use queue ticker with printer, display number and counter service . Counters are from 2-7, they work all together but sometimes not.
Can we have same functions with brightsign?  Monitor must display queue number and available counter for service.

How does the brightsign know to update it's queue counter?

Every time counter push a button to call customer. A jpeg file with numbers display on screen.
We ask this if it possible to offer one total solution.
