Custom Video Wall

Hello - I'm a video producer who has been charged with producing the content for a very large multi-monitor video wall. The configuration will be 3 monitors high and 12 across (36 total.. wow!!). I'm also in charge of purchasing the hardware... monitors and play-back units. I appears as if the Roku BrightSign units are capable... but I want to be sure. The website indicates a master-slave relationship with Ethernet connectivity. This will be a closed system, no internet connectivity... very simple; a single video that will come on at a pre-determined time in the morning.. loop, and then shut off late at night. What master unit do I need... what slave units?? These will likely be HDMI/DVI connected. I watched the online videos, and they gave me the run-through of how to design the Ethernet connectivity (fine, but it's still a bit confusing)... additionally, I could not find anything on-line that told me how to tell the units about their 3x12 physical configuration. All help is appreciated. Thank you Russ

I don't know if you need the brightsign to start playing at a set time. If you do, I'd use an HD1010 as the master, but if you don't need that, you can use an HD210 for all of the units.

The units would all be connected to a switch via ethernet. Only the master unit needs to have an IP address set, the others don't.

There isn't any setting to tell the unit about the 3x12 configuration. You would author the content so that each unit plays one pieces of the content. You would choose which unit plays which piece. There's no setting in software to tell the unit that it's unit x,y in the configuration.

    Ok -
        This sounds pretty awkward..

I will need to output 36 separate sections of our overall completed 60min production... and it will stay in synch??

I'm working in Final Cut... I am not an editor (I just hire them..), so how do I go about outputting these discrete 36 elements??

I'm a bit skeptical about this and will need a little handholding if I'm going to feel comfortable with this... Do you have any "step-by-step" information on this procedure??

    thanx in advance...

Yes, the largest synchronize installation I'm aware of is 100 units. I know a customer in the Netherlands also did a 60 unit project with one of our older players.

I'm not a video person either. I sent you contact information for Kirk from Funnelbox. They can assist with the video production.

Do you need step by step on the brightauthor software part, for how the units will sync, or on the video production part, which is something Funnelbox can help with.

    RokuLyndon -

I own a video production company... so I can do the video... that's not the part I'm puzzled about... this is what I need more info on... out-putting the video to the separate units... how do I slice and dice the video up so it plays as a video wall across all the screens.

    thanx
    Russ
