210W WireLess Conneciton

I sure this is normal for the units. but since I am new to BS I created a BS unit sd with wireless config. It was able to boot and access the web content for simple file network. the next days I rebuilt the same unit for local disk testing. I added a RSS feed but figured it would not work since I didn't have any network config for this unit. surprised to find the unit connected to my wireless network which is secured. and began downloading the RSS text feed. When I build the boot config with wireless is this copied to a boot memory file in the box? I assume when I rebuild this BS unit boot for wireless and simple network location on site production the unit will take the new wireless network setting and not my test office wireless settings? or do I have to force some boot memory on the unit to clear my test network? thanks

THe network settings are stored in the unit's registry. The card is just used for the setup of the unit, and storage of content. The settings don't stay on the card once the unit is configured.

SO, if you want to set the unit up elsewhere, you need to create setup files, again, that match the wireless network in the new location.

so the network setup is read into local memory on the box.   The box will stay with that network configuration until it reads a newer time stamp system configuration setup and the old is clear from internal memory.

    correct?

So I have my 210W unit using wireless currently.  is the hard wire port disable or active by default after the unit is 210W is setup for wireless network?

If someone plugged in a hard wire Ethernet cable would the 210W try to route over it instead of the wireless that I have configured?

Since some of my units maybe in public areas.  Anyone with a laptop and a hard wire could try to plug  into it the Ethernet port Just wanted to know state of hard wire port if it can be disabled via a configuration or script command.

YEs, the box stays in the network setup until you run setup files again changing the settings, or using a script to manually change the settings.

when the unit is setup for wireless, the ethernet isn't used, but the port isn't disabled. But, if you bootup the unit with wired connected, and try to setup wireless, then that won't work. So, the wired can't be connected when you're setting up wireless.

If the unit is already configured for wireless, it won't switch to wired if you boot it up with a wired cable connected.

Yes, someone could plug in an ethernet cable, but what purpose would it serve? There are no servers running on the unit. So, you can't query it over ethernet. You can't telnet to it. You can't log into a web server to find out what's on the unit, or transfer over content. So, plugging in an ethernet gets you nothing at all. If debug mode is on, someone could connect a serial cable to a 1010 and find out what the file names were that were playing, but that wouldn't allow them to control the unit or get content from the unit, or even get your wifi configuration information.
