Publish DVD To HD1010

I'm a BrightSign Newbie. I am testing a HD1010 that we are using in a retail showroom and I want to include some video content from some racing DVD's that we sell in a playlist. I have sucessfully created some playlists with images and text but I am unsure how to place the DVD content in a playlist. Can I eliminate the menu on the DVD? Any laymen help would be appreciated. Thanks, George

You can copy the vob files from the dvds to your computer, and you can use the brightauthor software to publish a playlist to the flash card for playback on the brightsign. vob is a recognized extension.

    Hi Lyndon,

Thanks for the reply.  Can you recommend a program to convert other video formats to BS recongnized formats?

    Thanks, George

What are you converting from, and are you looking for a free program? I personally like elecard converter, but it's not a free program.

If you can easily generate mov/mp4 files, that are h.264 encoded, you can use a free program like tsmuxer to make your mov/mp4 into a transport stream, .ts, that the brightsign will play.

Is there a limitation of playlist size other than the SD card size on a HD1010?  I have a 32GB card and the video playlist I'm creating is about 20GB.

    Thanks, George

no limit on the playlist size. I have a customer with a 40GB project.

    Hi Lyndon,

Evidently there is a limit on a video file size of around 5GB though. Any video file I try to write in Bright Author over 5GB gives a copy error. Is that correct?  It's a .mpg file.

    Thanks, George

Fat32 has a 4GB limit.  So, to use larger files you to format the flash card as exfact or ntfs. If you're using ntfs, you'll need a custom script because we don't currently support writing to ntfs. So, while brightauthor will publish to an ntfs formatted card, the brightsign can't write to ntfs so you'll get an error after startup when it tries to copy  it's xml playlist.

So, to use ntfs, you would need to use a custom script or possibly the old csv format which does attempt to do a write to th flash card.
