BS VGA Converter Box

Is there any way to hard config the BS VGA converter settings? Seems when power is shut off to BS 1010W all the manual setting I make on the BS VGA converter are wiped out. On power restore the VGA converter seems to default to factory settings. This causes the display to not format the image correctly. This forces me to manually have to make a trip to the customer site. To reset the display's BS VGA convert back to optimum settings. no a good thing.. Suggestions? bill

    I assumed the converter saved settings.

    Are you going to composite output? If you are, and don't specifically need the vga converter, you can do without it. With the newer firmware, the brightsign suports setting output to ntsc.

    The customers in-house video input is old composite  input yellow video input audio white/red audio feed.

    so I am going out vga to converter to composite to customer feed.

    is there a  component ( RGB ) from 1010W to composite cable that has no converter box?

    With the 3.5 firmware, there are composite video modes you can set the player to that use the middle component connector. So, no vga converter would be needed, and you could return it.

    Are they using brightauthor? Brightauthor doesn't yet have a setting for composite. But, I have a custom autorun that you can use with brightauthor so that if you select 720x480 as your video mode, it will set the player to ntsc-m.

    but will a RGB to componet to Yellow composite cable be ok for this config ?

    so I will not need converter box   at the 720x480 as your video mode, it will set the player to ntsc-m.

    sorry going back to non HDMI makes it more a trial and error for me...

    If you're using composite input on the display, I don't know why it would be better using a vga converter to get you to composite. The script is here.

    I have not see a  RGB ( componet) OutPut 1010W  --> to  Yellow composite (INPUT ) cable do you have a vendor for this cable?

    yes it would resolve the converter problem..

    I'm sorry I wasn't clear. You don't need a special cable.

    Plug your yellow video cable directly into that center connector. No adapter is needed.

    I did a diff between the autorun files and found the line of code in the autorun to make the720x480 work.

    so all set for now  and I can start testing..

    Hi just seen this discussion, composite video output is just what I need for a equipment replacement job I have on, will I be able to switch to the UK standard 720 x 576 Pal using the new Bright author software (Awaiting my IT dept to install) I have upgraded the firmware on a couple of players.

    I also need to switch an HD210 to "PAL 720x576i" component output via VGA connector.
    The customer use BA, so I need an autorun script for BA.
    Is it planned to update BA for the new output modes?
    If yes, when will be the update available?

    what pal settings do you guys need?

    These are the options:
    pal-i
    pal-bg
    pal-n
    pal-nc
    pal-m

    Search for this line in my custom script, and change the pal setting to the one you want. Please use upper case.
    if ucase(sign.videomode$)="720X576X60P" then sign.videomode$="PAL-N"

    Custom BrightAuthor autorun that uses Pal. May need to edit to change the PAL setting.

    Yes, the settings will be added to brightauthor, but I don't know the eta for that. I'll check.

    Thanks Lyndon I have video output from the player.
    We use PAL- I in the UK I made a simple looping video with BA and used your custom script with the settings changed to

    if ucase(sign.videomode$)="720X576X50P" then sign.videomode$="PAL-I"

    I also changed the autoplay script to

    <videoMode>720x576x50P</videoMode>

    Is there a list of avaliable videomodes that can be used with the video connector ?

    I'm not sure what you  mean? In brightauthor, there's a list of modes. There's a list of the ntsc and pal modes that are now supported in our faq, and the release notes.

    just wanting to clarify what pins you connected the two cores of the composite to on the VGA connector?

    Just connect to the Blue phono socket at the rear of the player marked Pb

    Yes i understand to connect them to the 'PB' RCA with a HD1010 or HD810 however i would like to us a HD110 which only have VGA and HDMI outputs. it mentions in the firmware release notes that this is possible from the VGA connector but does not specify which two pins of the VGA connector to use. has any one here had any success with this?

    Here is the pinout for the VGA connector.

    BLUE (Pb) – Pin 3

    GREEN (Y) – Pin 2

    RED (Pr) – PIN1

    GND – Pin 8, 7, 6


    If you need component, you need Y Pb Pr, in which case it is Green, Blue, Red of VGA pins, it is even labeled this way on the schematics.
