What is the "bml" file extension for?

Hello:

What is the "bml" file extension for?

I have been trying to figure out why I can't get Simple File Networking to work in BA 3.7.0.14.

In looking in the error logs I saw a "pool" file that showing up as "File does not exist".

I then looked at the current-sync.xml file to look up the SHA1 hash key to see what file it was.

The first item in the files>download> is projectname.bml (projectname is always the name of the project)

This file does not exist in the corresponding pool folder, and I can not find any reference to what  this file is or may be.

So can anyone at Support tell me what this file is, and why it is begin put into the current-sync download list if that file doesn't exist?

Thanks!

John

    Hi John,

If you create a project in BA3.7.0.14, publish it to a webfolder, and configure the unit to pick updates from that folder, everything should work properly. However, when you try to update the media/content etc, it will fail with error:

D=<project name>.bml The requested URL returned error: 404

    This is a bug.

If you exit BrightAuthor after updating the project, but before republishing, then re-enter BrightAuthor and perform the publish, all files are written correctly.
In the error case, the updated bml file is written, but it's incorrectly written to the file with the old sha1 file name. This is occurring because the sha1 for the file is cached in memory, and is not updated when the bpf file is modified.

The bug will be fixed in the upcoming BA version.

Temporary solution: modify the project, go to File - Save <project name>, close BA. Open BA, click on Publish menu > Simple File Network, double click on the schedule grid, add previously saved project to schedule, publish schedule.

OK, that worked, a bit of a pain, but it worked.
