Possible? UDP Network in -> RS-232 out to display?

Greetings all. First post here. 

We are planning on using several Brightsign units mounted to the backs of LCD displays. The Brightsign will be on the LAN, and also connected to the LCD display via RS-232. 

We will have a Crestron unit that will sent UDP commands over the LAN to the Brightsigns. Can those UDP commands then trigger RS-232 commands to turn the LCD display on/off & control volume, change input etc?

 

If so, how do we accomplish this in Bright Author?
