Combining BrightAuthor and Custom Scripts

I am looking to get the best out of both worlds and use brightAuthor to build and managed my large syncronised video projects while also using a custom script to allow me to control individual players and I was wondering if it was possible and if so how would I go about it?

An example would be to use the simple showcontrol script to control the volume of indvidual players, while using brightAuthor to build the content on each player. Is this possible I have notice in BrightAuthor there is a load custom script option I am just not sure how to use it.

Thanks for any help

Steve

If you're going to synchronize videos across BrightSigns, then video files can't have any audio embedded. No audio layer, even if it's empty.

If it's not a multi-player sync project, then how do you want to control the volume on individual players (serial or udp control, or using usb, gpio devices, etc.)? That would be easier to design an interactive presentation to control the volume level on particular units instead of writing a custom script.

Yes, you can use a custom autorun instead of standard one. This is specified under File - Presentation properties - Autorun.

I am not sure what it is about the brightsign community that I keep getting told that I can't do things the way I am. (But this is the second time in 2 weeks I have been told I can't do something the way I am already sucessfully doing it!

I have a 38 screen and a 25 screen art gallery installations running in sync with audio as setup from Brightauthor!

I can allocate increase and decrease volume commands per file in a presentation but this is very time consumming across 9 video tracks on 38 players. I was hoping to adapt the show control script to allow me to use UDP to adjust player volumes without having to set it up per track. Also the volume levels may not carry across from video track to video track.

    Thanks i will keep laying

    Steve,

I think there is some confusion here. The guidance should be that the best performance is when you are sync'ing screens with exactly the same video profiles. This ensures that the decoding on each device take the same cycle count. In the case of a master that has video and audio, the slave devices should also have video and audio. In the case where all the screens are visible from the same location, your best bet is to drive all the audio from just one of the devices so that you can ensure that you don't get out of phase issues from the different players.

In your first example, you would build presentations with BrightAuthor that included dedicated zone that just has an event handler. This event handler could be configured by individual player to take action on UDP commands that could originate from your show controller. Let us know if we're back on the right track. If we are, we can dig into the details.
