Syncronization between 3 or more unit

I have 4 HD1020's that are playing presentations on each one.  I need to start all players at the same time on any given time schedule.  I have already figured out the scheduler and I have it working as I need to.  I have added the syncronize event to each presentation I want to sync and labled it so.  All players are connected to eachother via a single 4 port router which is only local to the players with no access to the internet.

Besides what I have mentioned above I have assigned all the players static IP addresses as needed.

It seems I am currently unable to get them to sync.

Any Suggestions would help.  I have read the manual but cannot see what I might be missing.

Thanks

Will

Did you set the UDP ports for the master and 3 slave units?

There are a few other possibilities, hard to say exactly what else might have been missed.

Maybe look at the Creating a Multi-screen Synchronized Presentation using BrightAuthor tutorial to see if there is anything else you might have missed:

Please send your master and slave presentations, just the .bpf files, and the IP configuration of your units.

You can create setup files, zip and send them to us. Or send us the screen shots of your setup window in BrightAuthor with the settings you used for the units (Tools - setup BrightSign unit).

Let me see if I can better clarify this presentation I am doing.

I have a system in which I have 4 players showing different content on each display.  The content is a selection of various videos arranged by a playlist.  The playlist can contain various videos arranged in such a manner in such each playlist (1...10) are the same length in each player.

I have attached the current Master file I am trying to use and one of the slave presentations I am trying to use.  I figured if I could get two to run then the rest would be easy to achieve.

As for the IP configuration, I have DHCP set with all devices connected to a local only (no internet) router.

I have the UDP address set to the local sub net and a port value of 21075 for transmit and receive.

The theory of operation I was trying to achieve is that the Master unit would play a different play list at the top of each hour.  This in turn would send a sync command to the slave units to start playing the received sync command playlist.

In the master unit I have set a play schedule to play a different playlist (one of ten) so I have ten playlist in the master unit schedule. (P1_ch1_un1 ...  P10_ch1_un1).  When this list starts playing at the beginning or home video, it suppose to send a sync command for the slaves.  In the slave units I have created a Media List in which I have ten of them in the presentation all set to start via an Event Module with all ten sync and video list entries.

Again I have only added the Master unit and 1 Slave.  If I can these to work then I can get the rest of them to work.

    Thanks for your help,

I am in a time crunch and will be taking the work home this weekend if you come up with any results.

    Thanks

First, please update your BrightAuthor software to version 3.2.0.12 or 3.4.0.9 beta. And update the firmware on the HD1020 units to the latest beta version 4.2.36.

In order to support scheduling, both the master and slave units must know the date and time. And this time has to be exactly the same on both units. For accurate time the devices should be able to connect to Internet to synchronize their time with a timeserver. The time settings for the units are specified in BrightAuthor setup files (Tools - Setup BrightSign unit). If units don't have the access to Internet, then you can manually setup the time and timezone using a script. Visit this FAQ for details on how to do that: http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/314324-how-do-i-set-the-timezone-using-a-script. The BrightSign players will not have the accurate time in the case you use the script to setup the time settings. So you will need to compensate a time error by using a timeout event in the master project.

I've attached the screenshots of how your master and slave presentations should look like.

Under the File - Presentation - Properties - Interactive, tick "All devices on the local subnet" button.

The Event Handler in the projects fill the role of an empty place holder. Your units will sit at a blank screen for a Home Screen so no content will play until the presentation is activated by timeout event (master project), and by the first sync command (slave projects). To use an Event Handler, click the Other tab under Media Library and drag the icon into the playlist area. You can also replace the Event Handler with a home image.

You cannot use the Media List feature in sync projects.

We recommend using the H.264 MOV file for the HD1020 for synchronization. Requirements are:
    - H.264 codec
    - Maximum Main Profile level supported is 4.1
    - Maximum bit rate recommended is 25Mbps
    - Maximum video resolution supported is 1920x1080p (progressive)
If you're using Final Cut Pro & Compressor, please see the following FAQ item:
