HD220 sample menu board

I recently purchased HD220 unit and was under the impression that it comes with templates but does not seems to be the case. I have a bakery shop and want to create a simple price menu board. Does anyone guide me through or provide some template? I would truly appreciate.

    Hello:

I think the confusion is that there are some sample templates in Bright Author, but these refer to different Zone Layouts, and not content layouts.

Are you, or do you know someone familiar with Photoshop, or other image creation software?

If so, you just need to create your menu boards as PNG or JPG images in the resolution of the display that you will be using (typically 1920x1080 for most HD displays for example).

Then you will load these into a playlist, to save and put on the HD220 to run.

Watch the "Creating a Full Screen Presentation using BrightAuthor" tutorial as most menu boards are Full Screen, and this is a good place to start.

If you need more help, please ask.  Myself or others will try to help you out.

Basically, the BrightAuthor software is used to manage the content for the players.  You still need to create the content using any other software that creates images and/or video that the BrightSign Players are capable of reading and displaying.

If you are looking for some visual examples, Google "electronic menu board" or "digital menu board" and click on the Images tab, to look at various different menu board pictures.

Ultimately you need to come up with something that is bold an legible for the size display and typical viewing distance at your business, that typically matches the style of your business advertising for brand recognition.

I did a quick search, but did not really find any templates per se for menu boards, as everyone seems to do something different to match their brand recognition.

Good luck, and have fun.  I hope everything works out for you!

Also, you can use the Live Text feature to do a menu board. It's a more complicated way, but at the same time it's more flexible in the case you want to update the prices of your goods frequently. Attached is a document on setting up the live text feeds on your BrightSign Network account and using it to update a menu board. There's a sample menu and info on what text to put in your account to be able to do the updates. See the attached pdf. In step 4 you will be asked to download the Baxter_MenuBoard_Demo.zip file from the ftp site. I've attached it below.

More FAQs on Live Text are also on our website but the pdf is a good example.

It can be used with the HD210, HD1010 as well.

Yes, that seems to be a good way. I think I would have to get the network subscription for that so I'm checking with customer service on how to get that setup. Thanks

Support, is that correct, that Live Text is limited to only work with a BrightSign Network Account?

I haven't really delved into Live Text yet, but it will be disappointing if I can't use it to link to an XML file on my own server or on the SD card.

No, Live Text feature is not limited to a BrightSign Network Account. Live Text Data refers to the xml file that is located on the web server, xml file can be located on any web server. Use this way to create the xml file: http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/20951306-how-does-livetext-data-work-with-xml-rss-files, then place it in your web folder, and specify http link to xml file in brightauthor presentation.
BrightSign network account allows you to simplify this task. With the network account you can create the xml file using a convenient web user interface. This FAQ explains how to create: http://support.brightsign.biz/entries/21875958-how-do-i-create-live-text-feeds-in-the-brightsign-network-web-ui
The xml file will be located on our server. Then you sign in your BrightSign network account using any web browser and change the values of the description tags, and BrightSign unit will listen to these changes and will display the updated data.

    Hello BS Support team,

I have HD 210 player. When I download this presentation file   baxter burger 720 export.zip in bright author, by default HD1020 model player got selected for this project (presentation)file and I dont have option to change the player model to HD210.

So when i publish on my SD card, I'm getting following message in my display

"This presentation targets a Brighsign HD2010 and wont play on a HD proto Remove the card, publish a compatible presentation, and reboot the device"

So please let me know how to change player model from HD1020 to HD210 in this presentation file?

    Thanks

You can open the presentation file using a text editor like notepad. Then, change the model info via the text editor and save the file. Now, you can reopen in Brightauthor and publish.

Note: The recommended update interval for data feeds for HDx10 models is 5 minutes. You can adjust the update interval by going to File - Presentation Properties - Data Feeds. See the attached image.
