Mix different XD models for video wall

A client wants to build a videowall out of 6 TVs. They should play video files splitted to those 6 screens, from time to time some the screens should play individual videos. Also one of those TVs should from time to time show a cable tv-channel. So the question is, do I need XD1230 (which have a cable TV tuner) for all 6 TVs or will it also work if I use 5 XD230 and just one XD1230 and connect the boxes via a router.

It will work with 1 XD1230 and 5 XD230. XD series can be synced with each other.

Can I also connect all of the XDs to the internet via a switcher? And if yes, can all of them get video-updates via a MRSS feed?

Yes, you can connect the XDs to the internet, and yes, all the units can get video updates via a MRSS feed. Note, playback will not be synchronous in this case.

Okay. What if I lets say delete all current clips from my 6 MRSS feeds (one on each XD Player) and ad one clip to each feed. will they resync when all Players have downloaded their Clip? I am creating a videowall so being in sync is necessary, but I'd like to still be able to change the video (which i split into 6 parts) from time to time via MRSS. It wouldn't matter if the Displays are out of sync while the clips are downloaded, but it should work again afterwards.

    No.

In order to synchronize the units, you need to use the Sync commands and events. Sync events can be added only to video and image files in playlist. Synchronization of content that is included into a MRSS feed is not supported.

But all of the projects can be updated via simple networking, right? So I can't use MRSS feeds, but I can change the video files within the 6 brightauthor projects, reupload it to my webserver and they will download and play the new project in sync.

And one other question, I am sorry thats off-topic; The XS1230 has an RF input, does this input also work in Europe with PAL, HDTV? Do I need an adapter or similar?

Yes, update via simple networking will work.

If the rf feed isn't atsc or qam, then you can't use the rf input on the player. You would have to use the HDMI input.

Thanks. One last question: Does it matter what switch I use to commect the players to each other and to the internet? Or will any switch do just fine?

We recommend a standard unmanaged switch, doesn't matter what brand.
