Stock Feed Ticker

Hey, I have tried sever different so called stock RSS feeds but all just seem to be news. Anyone got an idea of how to post actual live stocks on a XD1230? Also would be cool to scroll like in times square (but not super important). Also in the same office they would like to post live sales numbers for the month easily... meaning they could update a text file but not much more than that, no uploading to servers and things. Any ideas?

XD1230 is capable of playing back videos, audio files, images and text from SD card, it also supports html5, so you can design a content in html5 using familiar tools. The unit downloads and plays content from its SD card. So, either you've put it on the SD card directly, or you setup the player to receive updates over the network or from a media RSS feed. But, it plays from the SD card whether it was put there manually or over the network. You use BrightAuthor software to create a presentation and publish it to SD card that stays in the player. For html5, see this documentation: http://brightsignbiz.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/HTML5%20USER%20GUIDE.pdf

There are a couple of ways:

    1) You can publish a separate presentation every month.

Or you can do this using the Live Text feature:

    1) Live Text provides the ability to update text on the units remotely using the BrightSign Network Web UI without republishing the entire presentation, and send daily updates to the player. You can use our hosted service account to build the data feed that the player uses. So, you would log into a web page and enter the text you want in this feed, and use the link to that feed to keep the fields updated. The person updating the fields can just log into the BSN account, and update the data feed without ever having to touch the project or the image behind the fields. You could do it all from a web browser. When you want to make a change, you'd again go back to the feed.

Take a look at this FAQ:

    2) Another way to do it would be to use a dropbox account. Attached is a sample xml file with a list of customers. The xml file should adhere to rss spec. The data in description tags is what the unit normally displays in a zone on the screen. The project was created using BrightAuthor 3.5.0.24. It points to this xml file that resides in dropbox public folder. I've attached a background image with lines and numbers for the list of names, and we use the url to point to a different index position in the xml file for each field. This is a good simple project to demonstrate how unit works with xml files.
